Downtown Huntsville, Inc. is the champion for a vibrant and economically strong Downtown Huntsville. Its members represent all stakeholder groups, including Downtown property owners, business owners, tourist attractions, business organizations, advocacy groups, neighborhood associations and residents from throughout the city.
Downtown Huntsville, Inc. focuses on the following major initiatives:
• Urban Environment – Master planning with the city a high-quality live, work, play urban environment, focused on opportunity sites and redevelopment projects

If you are interested in learning more about our innovative downtown, please email our President & Chief Executive Officer. His name is Chad Emerson. Chad has worked with over 30 different cities in the revitalization of their urban spaces, including a lead role most recently in the redevelopment of Montgomery as the Director of City Development. He has a law degree and has worked on development and redevelopment issues since the onset of his career.
In addition to Chad, we have a dynamic Board of Directors and Strategic Council. Both are filled with a diverse set of business, creative, and other thought leaders from throughout the Rocket City. There’s some serious intellectual and creative firepower in those two groups…

Chad Emerson

Chad serves as the President & CEO for Downtown Huntsville, Inc. He previously served as Director of City Development for Montgomery, Alabama as well as a consultant to over 30 different cities on downtown and urban redevelopment strategies. He received his undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University and his law degree from the University of Tennessee. He, his wife, and five children live in Huntsville.
Ellery Miller

Ellery serves as the Director of Communications & Special Events for Downtown Huntsville, Inc. She moved to Huntsville in 2014 after graduating from Colorado College in Colorado Springs. Ellery has a background in environmental policy, community engagement, and writing. She has worked for two municipal governments and volunteered with various non-profits. Ellery lives Downtown with her dog Ralphie and they enjoy hiking and running in Monte Sano State Park.
Melissa Dodgen

Melissa serves as Membership Director for Downtown Huntsville, Inc. She has served as a community volunteer for the last decade. Before that, she worked in the medical sales field. Melissa grew up in Huntsville and returned here after she graduated from The University of Alabama. She lives here with her husband and 3 sons.
